Okay I LOVE Instagram reels. I know a lot of people don’t but I think that’s just because they don’t know how to create results from reels.
I went from 0-8k followers on Instagram in one month JUST from reels.
Lean into what works
There is a certain format that works on Instagram and at the moment (it’s July 2023) it’s 5-10 second videos with a trending sound and text on screen. Does that mean you can’t ever go outside of that? Of course not! But I saw what was working at the beginning of my journey and I went all in on that format because I wanted quick results.
I found trending sounds from the reels tab very easily or used the IG reels editor and made sure to always align my text with the beat of the sound.
Know who your content is for
I know exactly who my ideal client is and what they need to hear. What problems are they currently facing? What does their current reality look like? How do YOU make their life better? The more specific you can get in your reels the more people you will reach.
Be consistent
I know, you’ve heard it before. BUT it’s true. If you post 6 reels and you’re wondering why it’s not working, you haven’t posted enough. I posted 23 reels over 2-3 weeks before one even got over 1,000 reels. And then when I had posted 40 I had one go viral. Keep going, it takes time and refining your content.
Aesthetics work
I focused on creating HIGH quality content and making sure I always had good lighting because low quality videos do not do well on reels. I suggest building up a content bank photo album of your highest quality videos that you can use for your reels that relate back to your niche. Optimized reels are so important because Instagram WILL suppress lower quality reels and reels that have borders or don’t fill up the entire screen.
